ONLINE FICTION
Tim Wright, lead writer on the innovative, Bafta-winning e-mail drama Online Caroline, created Oldton, a touching, magical place, fictitious place where he and anyone else can explore the vivid half-memories they have of wherever they grew up. This is creative blogging at its richest, with contributors submitting not only text, but photographs and memorabilia. Oldton might not exist, but its patchwork landscape is alive with comic touches an speculations as “Oldtonions” from as far afield as Minnesota ponder the town’s peculiar fauna, its geography and the universal nature of memory and loss. Nobody has cracked the conundrum of how to turn the web into a storytelling medium, but Wright has taken us a step closer.”
