The map of Oldton

I’ve been drawing out the full map of Oldton, using the pencils marked ‘Timothy’ that my children gave me for Xmas (they figured pencils are what a writer needs).

I’m trying to draw the map based on all the submissions in Your Oldton plus my own found images and texts. It’s a bit like a Geographic Information System in reverse – instead of having a map and attaching bits of data to it, I’ve got a load of random data and I have to produce a credible map from it all.

It’s actually fitting together better than I thought it would and there’s something rather psychogeographic emerging in that the town is now the location of a lot of powerful memories for me, like I did really live there.

I’ve drawn it on a grid of 4 x 13 so it should chop up into a set of playing cards quite easily.
